The “Run 4 Her Life” 5k and 10k is a flat, fast course through the heart of Downtown Glendale, beginning and ending at The Americana at Brand. The race promotes awareness and raises funds for a cure for breast cancer. Shannon Tweed, Honorary Co-Chair since 2007, along with her daughter Sophie Tweed-Simmons, considers her work a high priority.
“Being involved with breast cancer awareness, although it’s a selfless activity, there’s a selfish element in it for me,” she said. “I want my daughter to be informed and conscious about the disease and its prevention and treatment.”
“Cure In The Canyons” is a prequel event to “Run 4 Her Life” 5k/10k race. It’s a luxury life and style fest that also raises money for breast cancer research. This grand-scale event will be hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, CA on Sunday, October 4, 2009 beginning at 11:00am. It will feature celebrity guests and more than 35 of the top exclusive high-end luxury trendsetters, who are donating their time and products to fund breast cancer research.
For $75, guests will experience over $1,000 worth of extraordinary free treatments, samples and gourmet delights. This event also honors breast cancer survivors and those undergoing treatment with a special celeb-hosted Tea Party sponsored by Revolution Tea. Attendees are asked to arrive early to “Cure in the Canyons” to take advantage of as many product demonstrations and services as possible. Organizers of the event are offering a green incentive for guests who carpool! Guests will receive a fabulous gift bag upon departure.
Funds raised at Cure in the Canyons and Run 4 Her Life support local California research at USC/Norris Lee Breast Center, USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Michael Press MD PhD, and National Research. Grants are awarded as deemed by the Medical Advisory Board to have the most significance in the etiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer. Your participation drives the research.
