lampadina+casaGlendale Water & Power (GWP) invites all its residents to the 100th Anniversary Community Expo. It’s free to attend and you can expect interactive exhibits, children’s activities, refreshments and more. It takes place on Saturday, January 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Parcher Plaza on the Glendale City Hall campus. The expo will mark 100 years of GWP’s service in Glendale.

To encourage energy efficiency, GWP will give the first 100 customers in attendance a free string of LED energy-saving lights. (To qualify, attendees must present a GWP utility bill or a driver’s license showing a Glendale address. There is a limit of one per family.)

Attendees will be able to:

  • Learn ways to lower their utility bill and protect the environment with GWP programs and services
  • Explore history and participate in guided tours of the City’s first electrical power substation
  • Participate in California-Friendly Plants and Water 101 workshops
• See equipment and vehicle displays
  • Learn about Smart Meters, which will be installed starting this year

For kids, GWP will offer family-friendly educational exhibits featuring hands-on solar-powered activities and the “Singing Green” children’s show. Plus, Glendale Community College’s Science Center will present interactive lessons on energy, electricity and magnets.

Thank you to the City of Glendale for the info!

Parcher Plaza is located behind City Hall on 613 E. Broadway. Free parking will be available in the Civic Center lot at 141 N. Glendale Ave. (entrance on Wilson Avenue).
