Homemade for Haiti

A few weeks ago I mentioned to my boyfriend that I wished I could sew because then I could make my own clothes. He was baffled.
“You can’t sew?” he asked.
“No. Can you?”
“Yeah.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Didn’t you ever take Home Ec. In school?”
I told him I did not. He told me he did. We were both surprised with each other. Who knew my boyfriend could sew? In hindsight, I wish I had taken the class to learn how to cook and sew and what not. But after stumbling upon Home Ec. in Silverlake, I’m thinking I might take some classes to redeem myself. Or at least attend their bake sale this weekend. The profits will help benefit Haiti and Doctors Without Borders. Check out the details:
What: Homemade for Haiti
When: Sunday, January 24 from noon to 5 pm
Location: Home Ec. (3815 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90026)
From the Home Ec. Blog:
“If you’re looking for a quick, easy, and delicious way to help with the devastation in Haiti I implore you to stop by the shop this Sunday for our Homemade for Haiti bakesale. Many, many of our customers, teachers and friends are pitching in to help and we’ll have a ton of amazing baked goods on hand– everything from Browned Butter Rice Krispie treats to Cake Pops to Elvis Cupcakes (banana and peanut butter!). Our friends at Vegan Bake Sale are bringing some dairy-free delights and the incomparable Clare Crespo is dropping off some goodies too! The sale will last from 12-5pm or until we run out of yummies to sell. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.”
Eatin’ sweets for a good cause. I like it.
